Privacy notice
Round the Corner is a free website listing free and cheap things to do in London. It is run by Whitney Chan, who is the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us at hello@YOUR-DOMAIN.
What we collect and why
- Browsing the site: you can use Round the Corner without giving us any personal information. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- "Near me": if you tap "Near me", your browser asks to share your location. It is used only inside your browser to sort listings by distance. It is never sent to us or stored.
- Light or dark mode: your choice is saved in your own browser (local storage) so the site remembers it. We can't see it.
- Listing your event: when a business submits an event we collect the business name, a contact email and the event details. We use the email only to contact you about that listing. The email is never shown on the site. The event details are published if we approve them.
- Feedback: we collect your rating, what you use the site for, your message and, only if you choose to give it, your email so we can reply.
- Editor sign-in: people who run the site sign in with their email address.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: running the site, reviewing listings, replying to you and improving the service. Where you give us your email for a reply, we use it only for that.
Who handles the data
We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (website hosting and security) and Supabase (database and editor sign-in). Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on the safeguards UK law requires. We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
- Event submissions: deleted once reviewed. If published, the event stays on the site until a few days after it ends; the contact email is not kept with the listing.
- Feedback: kept for up to 24 months, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email us at the address above. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
